Using Disposable Wooden Chopsticks" Campaign -Saving Forest Activity- Takefuji Corporation has taken up a new campaign since 1st April 2006. It is one of our environmental protection activities, in which all employees abstain from using disposable wooden chopsticks and they bring "my chopsticks" at work. The intention to contribute to saving forest has gradually spread among employees and has grown into "STOP! Using Disposable Wooden Chopsticks" Campaign. All 4,346 Takefuji employees - incl. part-timers- (the figure is as of 31st Mar. 2006) participate in this campaign. As for lunch delivery service, Takefuji Corporation asked suppliers not to attach disposal wooden chopsticks to their lunch. At shops such as convenience stores and supermarkets, all employees would say "No, thank you" if a shop staff offers free disposal wooden chopstick as a service. Also on lunch-out occasion, employees would bring their own chopsticks for just in case if a restaurant or cafe uses disposal wooden chopsticks. By conducting the campaign through one year, more than 80 trees (diameter: about 38cm) could be saved. Moreover, Takefuji Corporation hopes our new campaign will promote saving forest activities as well as raise further sense of environmental protection among employees.
